Romanticizing the Silence
Why can we find peace in watching rain trickle down coffee shop windows during a quiet afternoon? Or as we watch the stars twinkle by at the dead of night?
Even those who may have rigorous schedules to keep can appreciate the sudden pause from any hustle and bustle going on in their lives. However, now it’s hit a new standard. For me, at least, it’s become the pinnacle time of focus.
Where sometimes it takes an hour minimum to get my momentum started during normal hours, given the right conditions, the stillness of the moment can lend itself to immediate results. Hell, I’m writing this at 6 in the morning in the back of a café that doesn’t open for another hour.
To me, this is my productive time. To me, this allows me to be alone with my thoughts. To me, it lets me isolate ideas and bring them to life because the only thing louder than one thought is another.
In the future I hope to have a nook that allows me the same sort of still space without it having to be 2 a.m. on a school night. I would like a little bit more rest than that.
